Health Systems Resilience & Sustainability

The Health System Resilience and Sustainability (HSRAS) theme aims to foster collaboration with health stakeholders across the community including non-government organisations, professional groups and government. Our goals are to build capability, generate new knowledge, and facilitate and contribute to knowledge exchange that will support resilient and sustainable health systems.

Objectives

  • Identify and assess components of health system vulnerability, resilience, and environmental sustainability in collaboration with health system stakeholders. This will involve, in part, the development of robust indicators that can form the basis of regular reports and assessments and support the evaluation of progress towards climate resilience, adaptive capacity and net zero healthcare
  • Develop systematic and scoping reviews; research, practice, and consumer resources (including case studies and examples); and service level interventions in health systems sustainability.
  • Support clinical, health workforce, health service and community Champions for change. Examples: NSW Health Net Zero Clinical Leads: We partnered with NSW Health and Wiser Healthcare to support 10 inaugural Net Zero Leads.
  • Enable health policies, systems, and organisations to integrate resilience and sustainability approaches as well as interventions through advocacy and education. We will curate, develop and promote knowledge on impacts and solutions through knowledge exchange between relevant stakeholders to promote integration of climate, environment and health in policy and practice.
