Scott has been undertaking environmental life cycle assessments (LCA) for the last 15 years. Since 2009, he became involved in performing assessments in healthcare, and subsequently has authored and co-authored papers on the environmental impacts of a range of medical devices and interventions. He recently completed a PhD on decarbonising healthcare. He is currently undertaking research comparing the environmental impacts of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, quantifying the impacts of colonoscopy, and determining the carbon impacts of five pathology tests identified by Choosing Wisely as being low value.
