Emergency Department Presentations During Dry and Humid Heatwaves: A Case-Crossover Study in the Northern Territory, Australia

This study establishes the link between extreme heat, humidity and emergency department presentations in the Northern Territory. Emergency department presentations increased by 4.4% during severe and extreme heatwaves, and by 6.1% when humidity was included in the metric. These findings call for the implementation of dual heatwave warning systems in the NT, incorporating both temperature and humidity.
