CE4HEAL- Improving access and adoption of solar systems for better health and environmental outcomes for rural, remote and Indigenous communities of Central Australia and South India.
The Clean Energy for Healthy Environment and Lives (CE4HEAL) project, funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has successfully completed its three-year mission. CE4HEAL addressed energy inequities and environmental health challenges in the context of climate change in rural and remote communities of Central Australia and South India. The project promoted solar energy adoption to reduce reliance on polluting fuels like biomass and diesel, along with raising awareness about clean energy’s triple benefits: improved health, economic savings, and environmental sustainability.
This presentation will outline CE4HEAL key findings, what were the challenges and enablers from both Australia and India in promoting the use of solar energy. Its learnings from consulting with communities and businesses about their knowledge of clean energy and, co-designing communications through local artwork and school competitions, videos and social campaigns and how they were received. We then hope to open up to discussions on translating cleaner energy solutions to promote the health, environmental, and economic benefits especially in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities.
