Hayley is a PhD student in the School of Human Sciences at The University of Western Australia. Her project, part of the Wellcome-funded Extreme Heat in Pregnancy Complications (EHPC) project led by Assoc. Prof. Caitlin Wyrwoll, investigates the effects of extreme heat exposure on fetal, maternal, and placental physiology in late gestation.

Prior to her PhD, Hayley was a Research Assistant for 2.5 years in the Preclinical Intensive Care Unit (PICRU) led by Prof. Jane Pillow. In this role, Hayley led the logistical organisation and day-to-day management of a variety of fetal and neonatal ovine studies performed in PICRU, as well as fieldwork at UWA’s Biomedical Research Support Facility and Ridgefield Farm. These studies included work regarding fetal hypoxia and neuroinflammation, the use of novel therapeutic peptides, and timing of prenatal steroid administration to optimise preterm circadian rhythms.
